Renewal of stolen or lost Driving licence

The Driving licence is exchanged for a person permanently residing in Latvia or who stays in Latvia more than 185 days per calendar year (and has the place of residence declared in Latvia).

Lost or stolen Driving licence is exchanged without passing the exams.

The following documents have to be presented in order to renew the Driving licence:

  • passport (pleasure watercraft operator’s licence or small-size watercraft operator’s licence is accepted instead);
  • valid medical examination card when no data is available in the Register of CSDD;
  • proof of the payment for the service in amount of:  EUR 22,05 (when stolen Driving licence has been reported to the police) or EUR 39,14 (when lost).

The Driving licence can be renewed in any branch office of CSDD where qualification exams can be taken and where Driving licenses are issued.

When the renewal of a lost Driving licence is not intended immediately it can be reported to CSDD in writing at any branch office of CSDD where qualification exams can be taken and where Driving licenses are issued (in person or by mail).

The Driving licence reported as lost or stolen is no longer valid as a proof of the right to drive a vehicle.
